CITY TREASURER

The City of Camden, Arkansas, is now accepting applications for the position of City Treasurer in the Finance Department.

The City Treasurer works under the administrative direction of the Mayor. The Treasurer is responsible for unusually difficult work performed at a high-level staff capacity and is responsible for the city's finances.

The City Treasurer shall perform the duties required to manage all aspects of the financial affairs of the city, including but not limited to the following:

1)         supervise the Finance Department personnel.

2)        compile and analyze financial information and prepare entries to accounts.

3)         analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and fund balances and prepare reports to summarize and interpret the city's current and projected municipal financial position for the Mayor, city department heads, and city council.

4)         prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax reports.

5)         make recommendations for accounting reserves, assets, and expenditures.

6)         devise and implement a system for municipal fund accounting when necessary.

7)         other duties as assigned.

 The City Treasurer should have sufficient experience in accounting, auditing, or a related finance field to perform the duties herein set forth and shall have a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, mathematics, or a related field. Previous work experience in the accounting field is required.

Possession of a valid Arkansas Driver’s License is required.

The annual salary is $55,000 - $61,000 (DOE) plus a complete fringe benefit package.

POSITION OPENING

POLICE CHIEF

CAMDEN, ARKANSAS

The City of Camden is currently seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Police Chief. The chief’s duties include planning, directing, and controlling all administrative and technical police services and activities along with supervising and providing for departmental training, assignments, and discipline. The Camden Police Department works to maintain high standards of community respect and has excellent working relationships with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

The Police Chief works under the administrative direction of the Mayor and is responsible for work of considerable difficulty in directing the overall operations of the police department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Applicants must hold a certification as a state or national law enforcement officer.

• Applicants must have a minimum of ten (10) years related experience to include five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

• Qualified applicants should possess a minimum of an associate’s degree or its equivalent in related training hours.

Job Description:

Duties and responsibilities:

• Have a good working relationship with the public, police personnel, and other city team members.

• Fosters a close working relationship with all local, State, and federal agencies.

• Direct, plan, and manage all functions and operations of the police department in enforcing laws and ordinances, preventing crime, and protecting life and property.

• Plan and direct the departments' short and long-term goals, objectives, and strategies.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the department's operational standards.

• Develop the annual departmental budget request and work to control expenses by budgetary apportions.

• Advise and inform the mayor on all related police functions, attend council meetings, and prepare and present a yearly report to the City Council.

• Attend Civil Service Commission meetings and other public meetings as required.

• Cultivate good community relations by giving presentations to civic, community, and other groups.

• Meet with elected officials, appointed officials, and other community and business leaders on aspects of the department's activities.

• Carried out other duties as assigned.

Supervision Responsibilities:

Directly supervise the major divisions of the Department to include Patrol, Criminal Investigation and Administration. Indirectly oversee sworn personnel, dispatchers, and civilian personnel. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and problem solving.
